Communications Cabling Lead Technician

Extreme Engineering, Inc is seeking Lead Technicians for permanent full-time positions for a variety of projects. Projects include: upgrading equipment and cabling in shelters at the base of cell towers, installing Distributed Antenna Systems in buildings, installing Small-cells for major Cellular Carriers, and installing WiFi systems. Projects will take place at locations in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, West Virginia, and Western Pennsylvania.

Experience is required for Lead Technician positions. College Degrees are NOT required. Candidates should be willing to travel 3-4 days per week.

Extreme Engineering, Inc supports cellular networks.  We design and install Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) to enhance cellular coverage in-buildings.  DAS projects range from small offices and warehouses to Office Campuses, Stadiums, and Speedways.  We install equipment in cell tower shelters including DC Power Plants; Battery Strings; Network Electronics, Routers, Servers, and Switches; Access Controls; BBUs, CDUs, VCUs; Fiber Optic Cables; AC Units; GPS Antennas; and other equipment.  We do NOT climb towers.

Job Summary:

The Communications Cabling Lead Technician leads a small crew and directs the installation of communications infrastructure to client standards. Must be able to read and understand client standards and requirements. High quality installations have built our reputation, Lead Technicians are responsible for insuring quality while maintaining production.

Travel is required. Travel expenses are paid.  Overtime is often available for hourly workers, some positions are salaried.

Must have valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and complete a background check.


Competencies/Skills:

• Ability to install, terminate and test UTP and Fiber cabling

• Thorough knowledge of industry standards (BICSI).

• Review, update, augment, and provide job documentation

• Creating MOP’s and Close Out Documentation

• Ability to learn and enforce client specific standards and requirements

• Ability to lead a team and promote positive attitudes.

• Knowledge of Category Cabling (5, 5e, 6, 6A) including cable support, termination, and testing equipment.

• Knowledge of Fiber Optic Cabling (single-mode and multi-mode) including cable support, termination, and testing equipment.

• Knowledge of telecommunications grounding and bonding.

• Knowledge of firestopping.

• Ability to use Word and Excel (or google docs and sheets)

• Good written and oral communication skills

• Ability to read job documentation and prints.


Education and Experience:

• 2-5 years field experience in communications cabling.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift 70lbs

• Must be able to traverse uneven terrain.

• Must be able to climb ladders.

• Must be able to pass drug screening and background check

 

Locations: Ohio and Michigan. Can be based from home and travel to jobs. Must be willing to stay overnight 3-4 days per week when necessary.
